With the arrival of autumn and the cold weather, we must keep up with our self-care, but that doesn’t have to mean giving up smoothies or shakes. Just the opposite in fact, it is one of the best ways to eat fruit and vegetables, providing us with the energy we need to study or work.
At Life Smoothies we have a wide variety of flavours in our smoothies and a new range of milkshakes that go perfectly with many different toppings. For example, this autumn we are all about seeds, so in this post we want to tell you about the most popular. They have a high nutritional value, and we will also tell you how they differ from each other and which product from our catalogue they go with best, so that you can enjoy Life Smoothies with the right, totally natural topping.
Chia seeds
These grains provide large amounts of potassium, protein, iron, antioxidants and are an important source of fibre, so they are considered a superfood. Chia seeds are recommended to strengthen bones, muscles and joints and help the body to function properly.
They are perfect for our sweeter smoothies and shakes, but also go well with savoury flavours. They are the perfect accompaniment to our Açai Kick, Green Machine or Raspberry Love.
Pumpkin seeds
Even the seeds of a food such as pumpkin can be used. Once dried and crushed, they can be added to cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices or smoothies. They are best known for their high content of minerals such as iron and magnesium, proteins and antioxidants such as vitamin E.
Nutritionists recommend them for people who want to increase their muscle mass or, on the contrary, lose weight, as they are more filling. They also reduce fatigue, stress and have anti-inflammatory properties. What smoothie would you pair these seeds with? We know: it would be the perfect match for our Caribbean Kiss.
Flax seeds
Flax is a plant with great nutritional properties from which we can use its seeds, that can be eaten whole or ground. Like pumpkin seeds, they are also filling, which makes them ideal for weight loss. They help prevent hair loss and are recommended for skin diseases such as psoriasis. Flax goes well with fruits such as coconut or in green juices, which is why we recommend using these seeds as a topping for our Tropi Colada or Green Machine smoothies.
Sesame seeds
Sesame seeds have left behind their supporting role on industrial hamburger buns and are now seen as a complete food with high doses of vitamin E, B, calcium, as well as their high amount of plant-based protein. Eating sesame seeds boosts memory and increases the ability to concentrate, making it a highly recommended food for students. Apples and bananas are sesame’s best friends. Combine sesame seeds with our Strawberry Split, Tropi Colada or Raspberry Love and enjoy your smoothie!
Poppy seeds
From the inside of the flowers, poppy seeds are an increasingly popular ingredient in smoothies. Aware of their rising popularity, we are happy to support this rise due to their high iron and calcium content. They are also a great source of vitamin A, helping to protect and improve skin in diseases such as psoriasis, atopy and rosacea. It is also highly recommended to include these seeds in diets for athletes or vegetarian or vegan diets: What could be better than adding them to our Green Machine smoothie?
